Research Fields

This interesting project was developed alongside Dr Vicky Ward from the University of St Andrews. She wanted an image that summarised the most important areas that need to be considered when planning a piece of embedded research (where the researcher is based at the site of the study). Vicky wanted to communicate the idea that these are separate areas but need to be considered together, with features emerging and growing as the research progresses.

Through several iterations the appropriate metaphors were settled on, allowing these hard to grasp concepts to sit together as a cohesive image. I also created ten spot illustrations based on the landscape, to accompany the main image. These can be

I also created ten spot illustrations based on the landscape, to accompany the main image. These can be used as icons in a written report and on the project website so help describe each “zone” in more detail.
